The Challenge: Restricted Budget & Aging Infrastructure
Following a comprehensive office refurbishment in Liverpool, the client was faced with a restricted budget that made the total replacement of their existing air conditioning equipment unfeasible. The challenge was to integrate legacy hardware into a modernised workspace without compromising on performance or aesthetics.
Phase 1: Validation & Technical Deep Clean
We began with a rigorous system validation to assess the mechanical integrity of the existing Mitsubishi Electric hardware. Once confirmed viable, we performed an industrial-grade deep clean to restore optimal airflow and hygiene standards.
- Specialist System Validation: A full technical audit ensured the aging units could still meet modern cooling and heating demands efficiently.
- Industrial Deep Cleaning: We removed years of accumulated particulate matter from the internal heat exchangers and filters to restore peak operational efficiency.
- De-gassing & Safe Handling: The systems were professionally de-gassed according to F-Gas regulations to allow for safe structural modifications.
Phase 2: System Relocation & Ceiling Integration
To suit the new office layout and grid ceiling system, the indoor cassette units required precise relocation. This phase utilised our core expertise as recovery specialists to rectify the “hashed” look of aging installations.
- Strategic Relocation: Units were moved to align perfectly with the new suspended ceiling grid, ensuring uniform air distribution across the revamped floorplate.
- Infrastructure Re-engineering: We modified the existing pipework and drainage runs to accommodate the new positions, following clean, parallel lines for a professional finish.
- Secure Secondary Mounting: Units were re-secured using reinforced threaded rod suspensions to guarantee a level, vibration-free installation.
Phase 3: Aesthetic Refinishing & Commissioning
The final stage focused on transforming the visual impact of the legacy hardware to match the “fresh” look of the refurbished office.
- Bespoke Grill Respraying: The external ceiling grills underwent a professional spray-coating process, removing years of discolouration and matching them to the new ceiling aesthetic.
- Precision System Re-commissioning: After relocation, we utilised digital manifolds to recalibrate the refrigerant charge, ensuring the system operates at the highest possible Coefficient of Performance (COP).
- Performance Verification: A comprehensive test run was conducted to verify that the refinished units achieved design temperatures rapidly, providing the client with a “like-new” experience on a fraction of the replacement budget.
